With the help of Linkr, you can add just about as many bookmark links as you like. Whether it's a popular service like Digg External link, or a local service available to a few users, you can customize Linkr to show any bookmark link you want. To add a new bookmark, logon to the administration part of your web site, head to Components » Linkr » Bookmarks and click on "New". You'll be presented with two sections: Bookmark Details and HTML Code.

Bookmark Details

The different parameters for your bookmark are set in this section:
  • Name: Give your bookmark a unique name;
  • Text: Some text to describe your bookmark e.g. "Digg This!";
  • Make Popular: Check if you want Linkr to consider this a "popular" bookmark;
  • Default size: Select a size to default to when Linkr can't find any code for a given size;
  • Icon: Insert the URI to an image. Used when inserting bookmark links with the Linkr button.

HTML Code

This is where Linkr will look for to find the right code for your bookmark. There are different sizes to choose from, hence multiple code blocks to input. There needs to be at least once code block for your bookmark to work. In each text area, past the HTML code given to you as is. More often then not, when you are given a bookmark code, you are also asked to replace some bits of the code; that's where the bookmark anchors come in. Use the bookmark anchors where the code requires information specific to each article, like the article title for example. The different anchors are:
  • [title]: For the article title;
  • [desc]: For a short description of the article (the text before "Read more");
  • [url]: For the article URL.

Icons

You can use any icon you like. There are many icon libraries on the web. A good place to start is at the IconArchive External link, or with the Web 2.0 icon set External link.

Default Bookmarks

For first time users, Linkr will automatically install some bookmarks and decide which ones should be considered "popular". You can export these bookmarks, or you can import bookmark settings from another Joomla! installation. If for some reason, you would like to delete all of your bookmarks and re-install the default ones, you can use the file attached to this article called "LinkrDefaultBookmarks" (see below).

uBar 0.9 has been released. This is a beta version; there are still some bugs to be worked out. Keep that in mind before using it on a live site.
